Editorial methodology

How we evaluate water purification systems

Our editorial score and Amazon eligibility are intentionally separate. Popularity is not proof of treatment performance.

Editorial scoring

Each review considers treatment relevance, credible certification evidence, flow or capacity, installation complexity, maintenance burden, replacement availability, footprint, warranty/support signals and total ownership value. The score is a comparison aid, not a laboratory certification.

Amazon publication gate

A marketplace-qualified product requires a latest imported rating of at least 4.0 and at least 10 ratings. Missing or stale metrics do not pass the gate.

Why the rating is not the score

Customer ratings can be useful evidence of ownership experience, but they can change over time and may combine product variations. Marketplace data is shown separately and is never converted directly into our editorial rating.

Health and safety

Filter performance depends on the exact contaminant, concentration, water chemistry, flow, maintenance and product configuration. For health-sensitive decisions, verify the exact model in an independent certification database and use qualified water testing when appropriate.
